I want to qualify as a Massage Practitioner, what courses do I have to attend/complete?
The Massage Introductory Course, Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology, Health & Safety and the Practitioners Massage Course.
 
What qualification will I get?
You will gain the LCM Diploma (Level 3), which will enable you to gain insurance & register with various associations such as the FHT, BCMA and the APNT. In its 30th year, the LCM and it’s Diploma is well recognised within the field of Complementary Medicine.
 
Do I have to attend the Massage Introductory Course? Why can’t I go straight on to the Practitioners Course?
The Massage Introductory Course (parts 1 & 2) is compulsory because it introduces you to massage techniques that are expanded upon in the Practitioners course and provides a good insight as to whether massage is for you before embarking on the full study program.
 
I just want to learn for family & friends?
The Massage Introductory Course – Part 1 will teach you safe and effective massage techniques so that you will be able to give 30 minute treatments, which is great for family & friends.
 
What if I want to learn how to do a full body massage but don’t want to qualify?
Then you can complete the Introductory Course Part 2. This will teach you the rest of techniques required to be able to complete a full body massage.
 
What do I have to wear?
For the Massage Introductory Course, just something comfortable, like a t-shirt and leggings or tracksuit bottoms.
For the Practitioners course we ask that you wear a white t-shirt and black tracksuit bottoms or something similar.
 
Do I have to bring anything?
For all courses you will need to bring 2 large towels, they are used to cover you whilst receiving massage. Everything else will be provided for you.
 
Do I have to bring a friend?
No, you practice on each other in class.
 
If I come with a friend can we work together?
Of course you can.
 
How many students are there in a class?
A minimum of 6, maximum of 10.
 
Will I get a certificate?
You will receive a certificate of attendance for the Massage Introductory Course – Part 1 and another one if you attend Part 2.
 
I have completed Parts 1 & 2 of the Introductory Course, what’s next?
It depends on what your goal is! If you would like to continue to Diploma level then the next stage is the online Anatomy,  Physiology & Pathology course.
 
How long will the online Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology course take?
There are 94 guided hours in this course so the duration depends on how much time you commit to your studies.
Can I complete the online Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology course at the same time as attending the Practitioners course?
Yes, but we ask that you have at least completed sections 3 & 4 of the online course before the first weekend of the Practitioners course.
 
I am a nurse/doctor/osteopath/fitness instructor/yoga teacher etc.. Do I have to attend this course?
Each applicant with prior learning will be assessed on an individual basis.
 
Is there a time limit between the Massage Introductory Course and the Practitioners course?
Yes, 6 months. If you fail to enrol on the Practitioners course within 6 months then you be required to attend the Massage
Introductory Course – Part 2 again (at a 50% discounted price).
 
When do I have to complete the Health & Safety Course?
This module can be completed at any point, even after you have completed the Practitioners course! Please note your LCM Diploma will not be released until your H&S certificate has been submitted to the LCM.
 
What is the Clinical Day mentioned in the Practitioners course?
This day is designed to give you the opportunity to carry out massage treatments on members of the public. You have to set up the therapy room, greet your client, complete a full case history and give a treatment. All of which is supervised in preparation for your final assessment.
 
Will I be able to travel & work abroad?
That will depend on the countries standards and requirements. There are some which will expect more medical training such as Sweden and the hours required for a licence in America varies from state to state.
 
How much will it cost & how long will it take?
The total cost is £1640 (payable per course) and you could be qualified in as little as 6 months depending on what dates you are available for.
